With the collective desire to increase access and the imagery of a traditional community barn raising in mind, Chickenshed NYC has launched its 2021 capacity and fundraising campaign Build The Shed.
Build The Shed is about building our participation, our diversity, our supporters, our audience, our social media presence, our brand, our outreach, our influence, our connections, our community and our future.
Resources from Build The Shed may be used for any Chickenshed NYC project, initiative, or program intended to grow, diversify, and engage the organization’s membership and audiences, including:
Scholarships: underwriting the costs of core program participation for individual children or families for whom the tuition or admission costs are a barrier to participation.
Sponsorships for Schools: supporting the costs of any school’s participation in Tales in Schools or Chickenshed Players in Schools, depending on the needs of the institution or its students.
Program Subsidies and Discounts: providing programs with free or discounted fee structures as an effort to include more young people and their families.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Projects: financing the costs of projects which aim to increase inclusion of diverse participants, develop cultural competencies, recruit diverse staff, or otherwise reduce the societal impact of racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, and other forms of exclusion.
Outreach Initiatives: paying for the costs of programs, marketing efforts, and other projects which focus on growing the membership and audience base.
Training and Professional Development: supporting the costs of creating and adapting programs, training new teaching artists, or providing professional development opportunities for staff members.
The Build The Shed fundraising goal is $100,000. Matching funds of $50,000 have already been committed. The remaining $50,000 will be raised by the generosity of people like you!
