Chickenshed Players
Children and Teen Theatre Program

Chickenshed’s unique approach to performing arts education sets it apart. At the heart of our Chickenshed Players program is a steadfast commitment to celebrating the individual and fostering an inclusive community.
Through specialized workshops, young people discover and develop their artistic talents while also nurturing essential life skills. Led by a dedicated team of theatre practitioners, the Chickenshed Players program empowers participants to explore their creativity, passions, and lived experiences — and to communicate them through the powerful medium of theatre.
Our productions seamlessly integrate elements of science, inviting guest artists and experts to collaborate with participants during the pre-production process. This innovative, cross-disciplinary approach highlights the rich connections between the arts and sciences.
Chickenshed provides a welcoming, supportive space where diversity is embraced and kindness and community are guiding principles. Children build meaningful connections with their peers as they engage in theatrical games, storytelling, and creative exploration — all guided by our experienced team.
In addition participants ages 7+ have access to specialized workshop programs designed to deepen their artistic development:
- Dance Lab – Explores styles like contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop.
- Vocal Lab – Builds vocal technique, interprets songs across genres, to help gain confidence in both solo and ensemble performance.
- Acting Lab – Dives into improvisation, scene work, and character development to strengthen storytelling and stage presence.
Each lab supports creativity, confidence, and skill-building in a fun, inclusive environment led by our experienced team.
The Chickenshed Player program is a testament to the transformative power of the arts.
Chickenshed has allowed our daughter to gain more confidence in everything she does. Above all, it allows her to be herself! The happiness is contagious amongst the students and truly highlights what every student’s strengths are.
Not only does each child have a voice, but it’s loud and clear that each Chickenshed player belongs
Chickenshed see each child for who they are. They walk in happy and leave happier - something very special.
Our son has taught the entire 4th grade at his school the sign language he knows for Don't stop Believin' and they are performing it at his choral concert in a few weeks. Thats all thanks to Chickenshed! Very cool.
