Players 4

The Chickenshed NYC Players 4 program offers teens a unique opportunity to collaborate, create, and perform in a professional, inclusive theatre environment.

Throughout the year, Players build essential acting, singing, and movement skills while developing original ideas that reflect their own voices and experiences. In the fall semester, Players will rehearse and perform a vibrant musical adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, a playful exploration of dreams, transformation, and mischief. In the spring, the ensemble works together to devise and create an original mainstage production. Alongside rehearsals, participants engage with guest artists and scientists to expand their creative process in new and inspiring ways.

Periodically throughout the year Players have access to specialized workshop programs designed to deepen their artistic development:

• Dance Lab – Explores styles like contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop.
• Vocal Lab – Builds vocal technique, interprets songs across genres, to help gain confidence in both solo and ensemble performance.
• Acting Lab – Dives into improvisation, scene work, and character development to strengthen storytelling and stage presence.

Each lab supports creativity, confidence, and skill-building in a fun, inclusive environment led by our experienced team.

Throughout the year Players not only grow as performers but are also empowered to collaborate and build confidence in team leadership and mentoring younger participants. Some Players may also be given an opportunity to join our Youth Leadership Training program, to further develop their mentorship skills that extend beyond the stage.

With no auditions and a focus on creativity, confidence, and collaboration, CP4 is where teens can fully express themselves, connect with others, and be part of something truly transformative.
